Chikungunya Fever

Chikungunya fever is a viral illness transmitted by the bites of infected mosquitoes and is rarely life-threatening.

Chikungunya ordinarily appears within two to seven days after being bitten by an infected mosquito.

Chikungunya fever typically continues for five to seven days and commonly induces critical and often hindering joint pain, which sometimes continues for extended periods.

A blood test should be done to accurately diagnose chikungunya as symptoms are somewhat similar to other conditions. There is no particular treatment for this condition, but medication may reduce the pain and swelling.
